What are your strengths and passions and how has working at Mediaocean enabled you to flex these muscles?
My strengths are definitely my communication and relationship building skills. I love helping people work through their problems, and my role as a Support Specialist allows me to do this on a daily basis. I know that even the most challenging problems have a solution and it’s my job to liaise with my colleagues and ensure that I can help find the right solution for our clients.
In what ways has working at Mediaocean challenged you and enabled you to grow?
On a personal level I’ve been encouraged to get involved in different projects and have been given the opportunity to develop my skills further. For example having been heavily involved in an update to our customer support ticketing system Zendesk, has allowed me to better understand software workflows, and has meant that I’ve had to liaise with other departments in our organisation in order to integrate and to make better use our valuable customer data.
What do you enjoy most about working at Mediaocean?
The fact that every day is different and there is always a chance to get involved in something new. The company also devotes a lot of time to charity and the local community, I enjoy taking part in these initiatives which are always a lot of fun and make me feel good about myself.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years and what role does Mediaocean play in helping you get there?
I feel it’s really important to be involved in a role that is challenging and rewarding, so any next steps I take will definitely have to fulfill this criteria. I feel confident that there will be a role like this at Mediaocean, after all the industry is changing at such a rapid pace and Mediaocean is really good at evolving and promoting employees with the right skill sets.
What’s your favourite employee perk at Mediaocean?
I love all the different social activities that are organised for us each year, like the summer party, and our monthly drinks. It’s nice to get the opportunity to speak to colleagues who I might not interact with as part of my day to day job.
Coffee or tea? Coffee definitely. I don’t like tea, I think it tastes funny.
Give 3 tips for someone looking to land a job like yours:
- Having an investigative mind is key
- Always being friendly and upbeat – even on those tough days
- Perseverance is important because you might not find a solution straight away
What are your favourite websites that you can be found browsing during lunch?
Facebook.com to help me keep in touch with family and friends and Moneysavingexpert.com because I’m always on the lookout for a bargain.
If you were stranded out at sea and could only have 3 things, what would they be?
- My phone because I would have access to Facebook, Candycrush Saga and the Kindle App
- A constant supply of books to read on my Kindle
- My jeans because I can’t bear to wear anything else
If your life were made into a movie, who would play you and why?
I would have to say Sandra Bullock, because she seems like she’s down to earth but she also scrubs up quite well when she needs to.
